Abstract:The configuration parameters of L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifiers(EDFA) was optimized and the influence of high concentration of Er on output character of the EDFA was studied by numerical simulations based on Giles model.The experimental results accord with our optimization design well for the EDFA with the high concentration of Er and length of 9 m.Its small signal gain is more than 10 dB and its noise figure is less than 6 dB with pump power of 100 mW.
