Abstract:A kind of Tb3+-doped high lutetium-gadolinium (Lu-Gd) concentration oxy fluoride glass was prepared by high temperature melting method.The den sity,transmission,emission,excitation spectra and scintillating properties of te n glass samples were measured and investigated.These results show that all the glass samples have a high density up to 5g/cm3,and especially the sample 5,the density is up to 6.2g/cm3;with t he increase of the concentration of Tb3+ ions,the intensity in emission range of 350-450nm will be decreased,while that in the emission range of 480-650nm will be increa sed;the intensity of emission under UV excitation does not change along with the Lu2O3concentration increasing,while that und er X-ray excitation increases with the Lu2O3concentration increasin g.Also we observed that Gd2O3has a positive impact on the emission of Tb3+ ion,and the e nergy transfer between Gd3+ and Tb3+ ions exists,which is verified t o be no radiation energy transfer by using Dexter theory.
